It started with Ts

After playing with drawings on paper then moving to the software of Photoshop and Krita, the next step was to look up graphic artists through some brand owners I know. I talked with Willban_gfx and we decided on a comic character who would connect with people who like designs by KAWS and old school Stussy and had interests in urban culture.  The first designs were sent to the UK based Printfection and made by them also.

Whilst this was in process I started some hype via Instagram and TikTok. Prjct1999 was born!

Also I experimented with a newspaper front page design which I  thought could work as a promo tool to highlight big-iconic events of the 90s. This design was left at the sample stage. On reflection it might be somthing better as a feature on the brand's website.

Why Prjct1999?

The Vision:  We need a brand that celebrates ending styles of the millenium and equally looks to the future... Prjct1999 is born out of the end of an era. Here's some ealy logos which I designed in Adobe.  The first logo, through its faded font, tries to establish something from the past. The second logo design tries to create a brand idea of sophistication

Joggers came next!

As summer moved in I noticed more people wearing straight drop joggers. Whislt attending skate-jams more and more companies were offering joggers as prizes. I started to experiment with a jogging design that could be altered between straight drop and cuffed with the use of a draw string. After  a few days of playing with the 1999Jogger I finalised a sample to be made via a manafacturer on Alibaba . On arrival I really liked the design of the fit, but felt the slogan on the bottom of the trousers was too much and the street slang a bit immature for an older buyer.  From this I continued to work with the idea of a Jogger design and started to think bigger, with the design of the bottoms above and a matching sweatshirt.

Denim Jeans

As a fan of skate/contemporary baggy jeans, I decided at the beginning of October to take the brand to its next level by designing my own jeans. With this design I wanted to try and match some of the top brands that have sewn in graphic design alongside logo and leather belt patch. These Evisu jeans from the 1990s were a big influence- After playing around with different designs I settled on a bull type character that looks like the Greek Minotaur representing the blend of human and beast, but overall strength which reflects the quality of the jeans against wear and tear. I emphasised the brand logo further by dressing the bull in a 1999 logo polo shirt. Here's the final stitched graphic on the jeans of rear pocket- To bring further quality I created detailed sizing tags as buyers often check authenticity via the inner tag. My size-tags are quick to suggest you are buying something of quality- Again like the classic designer brand jeans I went for a high quality leather badge to ...
